On 16th April, 1915, the 2nd Cornwall Light Infantry battalion of 82 Brigade, 27th Division moved into trenches at Sanctuary Wood in the Ypres salient where they remained until relieved on 19th April. After a relatively quiet beginning to April things were now beginning to intensify as enemy shelling became a much greater threat and it is likely that it was this that resulted in the death of Harry Tomlin who was killed on 16th April. |
